The Tidal Method: A Free Guide
A 10-minute practice in three waves, from Bianca Harris, founder of Holistic Breath Academy.
When you stop, breathe, and let go of what you're holding, you get clear. And when you get clear, you remember what you're here for.
Why three waves
Most of us were taught to use breath like a quick fix: one technique for one problem. But breath works like water. Sometimes calm and steady, sometimes intense and purifying, always clearing. The Tidal Method blends ancient and modern ways of breathing into one complete arc, so breath becomes a whole experience instead of a one-off technique.
Wave 1: Arrive (calming)
We settle the nervous system and come fully into the present. This is the foundation that makes the deeper work safe.
Wave 2: Rise (cathartic)
The breath builds. Emotion moves, energy shifts, and what's been held begins to release.
Wave 3: Return (mindful)
We come back slowly. Stillness and integration let the clarity land.
Your 10-minute practice
Find a comfortable seat or lie down. Set a timer, soften your gaze or close your eyes.
Arrive (3 minutes): Breathe in and out through your nose. Let the exhale grow a little longer than the inhale, about a count of 4 in and 6 out. Feel the body get heavier with each exhale.
Rise (4 minutes): Breathe in fully through the nose, into the belly and then the chest. Let the exhale fall out through the mouth with a soft sigh. Find a steady rhythm, a little fuller than normal, never forced. If you feel lightheaded, return to natural breathing.
Return (3 minutes): Let the breath go. No technique, no control. Notice what's here: sensation, emotion, space. Rest in the stillness.
Afterward, take a moment to journal: What did I let go of? What became clear?
A note on safety: go gently and stay within what feels good. If you are pregnant or have a heart, respiratory, or mental health condition, check with your doctor before doing breathwork.
